Note: At a Farewell dinner, the below prayer, Irish Grace prayer was used. Last Friday, I was asked to offer an invocation prayer at our Battalion Commander’s Farewell dinner. Some times, I craft up the prayer and other times I borrow a prayer from a source. This time, I opened up the book titled, The Notre Dame Book of Prayer, 49.
Irish Grace Prayer
May this food restore our strength,
giving new energy to tired limbs,
new thoughts to weary minds.
May this drink restore our souls,
Giving vision to dry spirits,
new warmth to cold hearts.
And once refreshed,
may we give new pleasure to you,
who gives us all. AMEN.
